- Our family consists of Claire (English, translator); Kei (6th grader) and Dan (3rd grader). Sakura is Japanese cherry blossom. The part of Osaka in which we live is named for it, and when the trees bloom in early spring their fragile beauty transforms the urban jungle.

Hi Claire I discovered your Sakura family blog when I did a websearch. My maiden name is Sakura and I wonder if your husband is related to my family. My grand father is from Tsuwano and was an orphan (or so the story goes). But he lived with relatives I don't know if their sir name was Sakura. I'd love to chat with you. I will be visiting Japan (Tokyo and Osaka for the first time in March/April 2012. I hope to hear from you. Melna
